I’m one of these people saying that you shouldn’t judge a book by its cover. Just imagine the great stories that slipped through our fingers because we didn’t find their cover interesting. Yes, we know illustrations and good photos serve as marketing, and that’s understandable for publishers and indie writers. I am going to commission a pretty cover for my book, that’s for sure!
However, I’ll do it differently on my blog here–as you can see at the top of my posts there’s a purple image with a text written on it. I plan to use it for everything: blogs, stories, gaming, and all the purposes I come up with. Look at my homepage, it looks all the same. And that’s okay for me; in the end, I want to make the first impression like that, a plain image that tells you exactly what you’re going to find with a click of your mouse.
For my stories, I’ll use nothing but text. I want you to read and be part of the little word I describe. Photos will be added IF necessary on my blogs, gaming stuff, and things that require them.
Let’s never judge a book by its cover. But, us writers, let’s make our book covers pretty (I guess for others to judge, ha ha)!
Let me know your thoughts!
